The buzz is swirling around intelligent TV
While we work very hard internally on bringing you a smart, context-aware media browser, we have our ears to the ground. The buzz in this sector is becoming a roar. If you’re interested in being involved in the beta, sign up above.
For example, John Doerr from Kleiner Perkins, in an interview with Charlie Rose yesterday, said that touch screens will change the way we interact with everyday things such as television. John was very excited about interfaces, touch screens, and more intelligence with the content. ”The internet and the TV are finally coming together.” (Watch the full interview)
We are also very excited about Google TV, which was just announced a couple days ago. Some impressive software and integration was shown. One thing we noticed in the demo was that they used a keyboard to interact with the TV. Doesn’t it seem odd to control the latest TV, a 21st century innovation, with 20th century input device, a hard keyboard? Wouldn’t it be great if the input interface was intelligent and evolved depending on the context?

This looks great. Finally, a replacement for rowmote that’s vastly more functional, and sexier to boot.
